J. Michael McMurdo
J. Michael McMurdo, Owner and COO of Acadia Mortgage, LLC has over 35 years of mortgage industry experience. He is a long-term resident of Bucks County Pennsylvania, having moved to Chalfont in early 1983 to raise a family with his wife, Debbie.
Michael's mortgage career began in 1976, when he joined the private mortgage banking firm of Bogley, Harting & Reese Inc. (Upper Darby, PA). As Executive Assistant to the Vice President for Operations, Michael was exposed to, and worked in every phase of Bogley's mortgage banking operation. He later moved up to Bogley's originations department, where his responsibilities included processing and underwriting of Conventional, FHA & VA loans. He also worked in the closing/settlement department, and facilitated the timely delivery of government loans for packaging in GNMA securities.
Mike's six years of mortgage banking experience with BH&R resulted in an opportunity to join the PMI Mortgage Insurance company (San Francisco, CA). His two and a half years at PMI introduced him to Mortgage sales, paving the way for what would prove to be an extremely rewarding career with his next employer, General Electric (GE) Capital Mortgage Corporation (Stamford, Connecticut). The eighteen years that Mike spent at GE influenced him profoundly, strengthening and deepening his expertise in mortgage banking, solidifying his commitment to excellence, and grounding his knowledge of mortgage banking in basic business principles.
In May, 2001, the culmination of Michael's knowledge, experience, and entrepreneurial spirit came when he decided to leave GE and found Acadia Mortgage, LLC. Now in his tenth year in business, Mike has never looked back. The experience of founding a business, working directly with suppliers, and - most of all- helping customers achieve their dreams (with their finances intact) is one he simply wouldn't trade for anything.
Michael is an avid hiker and biker and loves the outdoors. In fact, he named Acadia Mortgage after his favorite place, Acadia National Park, just outside of Bar Harbor, Maine.
